1. Log in to your account

Navigate to the login page and log in with your account credentials.

2. Navigate to ‘My Domains’ page

Once logged in, find the section labeled ‘My Domains’. This section lists all the domains you have registered with your account.

3. Access DNS Management

1. Select the Domain

From the list of domains, select the domain for which you want to activate DNSSEC.

2. Go to DNS Management Section

After selecting the domain, look for the DNS management section and press ‘Manage’ button.

4. Change DNS

• Park domain -> Use external DNS server
• Park domain -> Use Svenska Domaner’s DNS servers
• Use Svenska Domaner’s DNS servers -> Use external DNS server
• Use external DNS server -> Use Svenska Domaner’s DNS servers

If you take some of this changes you will get notified with the warning message bellow the DNS options. 

5. Wait 24 Hours

After disabling DNSSEC, wait at least 24 hours. This period allows the changes to propagate across the internet and ensures that cached records are updated.

6. Disable DNSSEC at the DNS Provider

After the initial waiting period, disable DNSSEC at your DNS provider. This step involves removing the DNSSEC records, such as RRSIG, DNSKEY, and DS records.

7. Change Name Servers

Once DNSSEC is fully disabled and records are cleared, proceed with changing the name servers to your new DNS provider.

8. Wait Another 24 Hours

Again, wait for 24 hours to allow the new name server settings to propagate.

9. Re-enable DNSSEC

After ensuring that the new name servers are correctly propagating, re-enable DNSSEC. This process includes generating new DNSSEC DS records and adding the appropriate DS records back at the registrar.

It’s crucial to perform these steps in the correct order and allow adequate time for DNS changes to propagate to avoid downtime or security issues. Be patient as DNS changes can take time to fully propagate depending on the top-level domain and caching settings.

You can follow the steps to activate DNSSEC:

1. Navigate to domain’s main page in My Pages.
2. Scroll down to Basic DNS Management section

1. Activating DNSSEC Using Svenska Domäner name servers

• If you are using the name servers provided by Svenska Domäner, the process of activating DNSSEC is straightforward and largely automated.
• In the DNSSEC management section, look for a button labeled ‘Activate’. Click this button to start the DNSSEC activation process.
• DNSSEC will be automatically activated within 7 days after enabling it. No additional steps are required from your side.

2. Activating DNSSEC using external name servers

• If you are using external name servers (not provided by Svenska Domäner), you need to manually obtain and configure the necessary DNSSEC records.
• You can check how to do it here.

You can follow the steps to deactivate DNSSEC:

1. Navigate to domain’s main page in My Pages.
2. Scroll down to Basic DNS Management section

1. Dectivating DNSSEC Using Svenska Domäner name servers

• If you are using the name servers provided by Svenska Domäner, the process of deactivating DNSSEC is straightforward and largely automated.
• In the DNSSEC management section, look for a button labeled ‘Deactivate’. Click this button to start the DNSSEC deactivation process.
• DNSSEC will be automatically deactivated. No additional steps are required from your side.
• After that you will be able to ‘Activate’ DNSSEC again.

2. Deactivating DNSSEC using external name servers

• If you are using external name servers (not provided by Svenska Domäner), and if you have already existed DS records you will have ‘Deactivate’ button option in the DNSSEC management section.
• After you click and confirm it, deactivation will start and you will be able to add new DS records using UI interface.

1. Prepare for adding new DNSSEC DS record

1. Navigate to the ‘My Domains’ page
2. Open domain for which you want to add new DS record
3. Find DNS management section and select ‘Use external DNS servers’
4. Add your nameservers and click ‘Proceed’ button

2. Generate DS Record

Once DNSSEC is enabled, you can generate a DS record. The DS record contains important information that links your domain’s DNSSEC-signed zone to the parent zone at your domain registrar. For the generating new DS record access DNSSEC management (Navigate to the DNSSEC management section where the DS record information is provided).

Fill in the DS Record Details:

1. Key Tag – a short numeric identifier for the DS record.
2. Algorithm – the algorithm used to generate the DS record.
3. Digest Type – the hash algorithm used for the DS record.
4. Digest – the hash of the DNSKEY record(Unique value for every DS record).

Save the changes to ensure the DS record is added to the parent zone. After that your DS record will be visible in the table and you will get the message on the top that DS record is successfully saved. If something went wrong you will also get the message on the top.

How can I view/edit nameservers for domain?

For all .SE and .NU domain names registered with Svenska Domäner, DNSSEC is automatically activated. This means that as a website owner, you can always be sure that your visitors reach the correct website.

How does DNSSEC work?

DNSSEC relies on a set of security keys used to sign DNS information. When you visit a website, DNSSEC verifies that the information is correctly signed. If the information is correctly signed, you can be confident that you are visiting the intended website.

How to test DNSSEC

To test if DNSSEC is enabled for your website, you can use the DNSSEC Analyzer tool provided by Verisign Labs. The tool will show if DNSSEC is enabled and if the information is correctly signed. You can access the tool at: DNSSEC Analyzer

DNSSEC Support for .se and .nu Domain

DNSSEC is supported for .se and .nu domains. For these domains, automatic activation of DNSSEC occurs within 7 days after registration. However, it is possible to manually activate DNSSEC immediately after registering the domain.

To manually activate DNSSEC for your .se or .nu domain, follow the steps outlined in the article How to Activate DNSSEC for Your Domain.

What do I use DNS for?

• Connect your domain to your site by editing your A-mail.
• Create a separate one on your website e.g. member page or webshop, you can add a subdomain that points to the IP address of your e-commerce or member portal.
• If you have already built a website somewhere else or want to use your Facebook page as a website, you can connect it to your domain with a forwarding.
• Ensure your email gets it right by reviewing your MX entries.

Do I need a DNS account?

A DNS account is a tailor-made service for users who have only registered a domain name with us and do not have a web host (DNS management is included in all our web hosts). If you have not yet decided to buy a web host, we recommend that you start with a DNS account to be able to use your domain. A DNS account allows you to manage the domain’s DNS settings via a control panel, “cPanel” where you can create new or change in existing DNS records.

If the system detects that it cannot successfully renew subscription in the period starting 25 days before due date (when renewal invoice is created) then it will start sending inactivation notification on every 5 days until due date.

Following reason(s) can lead to inactivation notification send out:

• Credit/debit card reference is explicitly removed by the customer or removed by the system due to credit/debit card expiration.
• Safe crediting is turned off.
• The customer is not eligible for having Faktura payment type.

After 5 send outs the system will stop sending this notification and after that, it will inactivate/cancel the subscription.

If you have intentionally disabled automated renewal you can ignore this message.

Otherwise, try to resolve issue detected by system by either

• registering new credit/debit card or
• turning on safe crediting or
• paying renewal invoice explicitly

You can redeem domain subscription by requesting redemption of it from support within 1-3 months after expiration (depending on the TLD).

There is no automated way to submit redemption request so you contact us via phone, email or open support ticket.

Upon request, support will prepare an invoice according to the price list that needs to be paid before redemption starts.

Upon invoice payment, domain subscription will be redeemed within 1 to 5 days depending on TLD.

Service

You can redeem service subscription by requesting redemption of it from support within 1 month after cancellation.

There is no automated way to submit redemption request so you contact us via phone, email or open support ticket.

Upon request, support will prepare an invoice according to the price list that needs to be paid before redemption starts.

Upon invoice payment, service subscription will be redeemed within 1 day.

1. Navigate to service’s main page or Navigate to domain’s main page depending on subscription type.
2. You’ll see a message with information that your subscription is deactivated. Press the button “Re-activate.”
3. Confirmation message shows with explanation how much reactivation will cost.
4. If you are satisfied confirm by pressing the button “Proceed.”
5. You will be redirected to resumption invoice page if everything went trough.

After request, an invoice is automatically generated and in addition to resumption fee, it will contain invoicing of subscription for the whole period subscription was inactive up to the next due date that is bigger than the current date.

Note that you can always come back later and pay resumption invoice.

If resumption invoice is not paid within 10 days, the system will automatically clean it up.

After payment of generated resumption invoice, the subscription will be resumed automatically.

In case of service resumption, services (such are mail or hosting) will be resumed immediately. In case of domain resumption, domain’s DNS will be unlocked which might take up to 24 hours.

Subscription returns back to Active state.

1. Navigate to service’s main page or Navigate to domain’s main page depending on subscription type.
2. You’ll see a message with information that your subscription is about to be cancelled. Press the button “Regret cancellation.”
3. Confirm by pressing the button “Proceed.”
4. You should see a success message if everything went trough.

Your service will continue working as before except that system will continue invoicing given subscription.

After revocation of cancellation, subscription state is changing from Pending Cancellation to Active again.
